     Alfred J. “Al” Lough, 85, of West Peoria, passed away at 6 p.m. on Sunday, October 28, 2012, at Rosewood Care Center in East Peoria.
     He was a kind and gentle soul who will truly be missed.
     Al was born on August 8, 1927 in Dallas City, a son of Douglas and Elta (Clayton) Lough. He married Donna Viner in Kansas City, KS in 1947. She preceded him in death in January of 1995. In January of 1996, he married Jane Garske. She survives.
     He is also survived by his daughter, Sheila (Scott) Russell of Kingman, AZ; stepdaughter, Marjorie (Harold) Stark of Peoria; stepsons, John Garske of West Peoria, William Jr. (Carolyn) Garske of Fond du Lac, WI, Thomas (Tasha) Garske of Bartonville and Richard (Diane) Garske of Cloverdale, IN; brother, Jim (Connie) Lough of Muscatine, IA; and sister, Doris Kelley of Lowell, AR. He also leaves nine grandchildren, whom he adored: Carrie, Rachel, Ashley, Christopher, Michael, William III, Jared, Brittany and Ethan; and three wonderful great-grandchildren: Connor, Olivia and Eli and another little girl due in February.
     Al served in the US Navy from 1944 to 1946 in World War II. He was the National Archery Heavy Tackle Champion for two years and he was a Teamster for 45 years, retiring from Bosch Trucking.
     Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 11, 2012, at Maranatha Baptist Church on Ann Street in Peoria, with Pastor John Bagley officiating.
     Memorial contributions may be in Al’s memory to Maranatha Baptist Church.
     Arrangements have been entrusted to Clary Funeral Home, 3004 West Lake Avenue, in Peoria.
